  Anthony Funeral Chapel
  1031 Ridge Road, Webster
  585-872-6380

Anthony Funeral Chapel has been serving families in the Webster area for nearly two decades. Mark and Scott Anthony along with their dedicated staff carry on the 90 year tradition of Smith & Lotze Funeral Home, blending it with the Anthony family's half century tradition of service. Anthony Funeral Chapel was established in 1952 on Monroe Avenue in Brighton by Scott's father Benton. He was joined two years later by his brother George, Mark's father. Scott and Mark bought the business in 1984.

In 1995, the Anthonys built a new funeral chapel and an adjacent family center on Ridge Road. The family center was the first such facility permitted in New York State. With a capacity of 50, the family center is available to families during calling hours and after funeral services. Anthony also makes it available to community organizations.

Scott and Mark Anthony's commitment to independence and family ownership is underscored by membership in Selected Independent Funeral Homes. Membership in this 80 year old organization is granted only to independent funeral homes that subscribe to the strict ethical standards set forth in the Code of Good Funeral Practices. Anthony Funeral Chapel has been a member since 1962.

In 2002, the National Funeral Directors Association honored Anthony Funeral Chapel with Pursuit of Excellence Eagle awards. The Eagle award is one of the highest levels of achievement. To be recognized in the Pursuit of Excellence program, a funeral home must meet quality service criteria in eight categories, including education, compassionate service, technical skills, community and professional service, library or media resources, professional development, in-house staff training, and public and community relations. To earn the Eagle recognition, a funeral home must meet additional criteria in each category and create a scrapbook of its activities. As a locally-owned, independent funeral home, Anthony Funeral Chapel is able to offer such community services as its annual Holiday Service of Remembrance each November, and continuing care to each family throughout the grieving process. Physical facilities can be tailored to the needs of each community Anthony serves. This includes special facilities for children and the family center.

Anthony Funeral Chapel is active in funeral directors associations on the local, state and national levels. Scott and Mark have both held offices at the state and local level. They work with organizations that help children who have lost a parent or sibling, and provide education on death, grieving and the funeral process through school systems.

Scott is well known throughout the Webster community for his generous dedication and involvement with a diverse number of organizations. He served as President of the Webster Chamber from 1996-98. He currently serves on the boards for the Webster Arboretum and The Webster Community Sports Arena Complex. Scott serves on the Executive Committee of the Rochester General Hospital Foundation, is a Board member of the NYS Funeral Director Association, is VP of the Rochester Rotary, a supporter of the Webster Theater Guild and is a member of the Webster Kiwanis. Anthony Funeral Chapel can be reached at 585-872-6380. Congratulations!
