Fitness on the Run opened for business on January 1, 2003 in the Sunrise Plaza. Owner, Jean Alianell, decided to try something different after the last three companies where she worked left town. Faced with her own diagnosis of high blood pressure and diabetes, she began to exercise regularly, and decided to give the fitness business a try.

Fitness on the run offers a unique blend of exercise, socialization, health and nutrition advise and fun. The 20 station circuit is the center of the club and the only format offered in the beginning. It's now joined by a blend of "infomercial heaven" equipment such as Gazelle type walkers, abswings, ab doer, Body by Jake Ab Sissor and more traditional items such as bicycle, steppers, rowers, ab crunch machine and VKR tower. This large variety of activities helps keep members from hitting plateaus.

Registered dietician, Cindy Rapp, leads a "Healthy Eating on the Run" diet and nutrition program on Tuesday nights, which is free to anyone.

Fitness on the Run gives back to the community. Joining fees are donated to local charities such Webster Food Cupboard, Webster Comfort Care Home, Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, Visiting Nurse Service, Mercy Flight, Lollypop Farm, American Heart Association, Bethany House and Habitat for Cats.

Jean's Webster roots run deep. She and husband, Richard, have been Webster residents for 43 years. Jean spent 17 years as Youth Group Coordinator for two local churches. Children, Kathy and Michael, graduated from Webster Schroeder High School, and granddaughter, Kelly, is currently attending Webster Thomas High School. Jean attends workshops and keeps up with all the latest trends in the fitness industry, always looking for new ideas to benefit her clients.
