The Boulter Company began as an ice and coal delivery service in 1892. Eventually furniture was delivered. The company now focuses on moving and installation of industrial heavy machinery and provides warehouse space and moving equipment as well as steel fabrication and welding services. Some of the recent projects include the Penfield YMCA, the U of R Co-generation plant, & the new Bausch & Lomb Research and Development building on Goodman St. Industrial plant relocation and moving large equipment are the core components of the company. As a fifth generation, family owned business, Boulter employs 45-50 people year round. During construction season the ranks swell up to 100 employees. Bill Boulter credits the company success to their loyal and talented employees.
A few years ago, Bill Boulter purchased acreage on Publisher’s Parkway and gave the Webster Community Rink Association a place to build the Webster Community Sports Arena. An indoor soccer facility was added and is named the Senator Michael Nozzolio Indoor Soccer Complex. He felt it was something he could do for the community. Hockey players had been searching for a location where an ice rink might be developed. The location is perfect.
Bill Boulter served on the Chamber’s Board of Directors. In 1999 he received the Chamber’s “Man of the Year” award.
Today, the Boulter Corporation is managed by son, William (Willis) Boulter. He is on the Board of the Rochester Tool & Machine Assoc., is Vice President of the Millwright Contractors Assoc. and coaches softball.
Congratulations!
