Laurie O’Connell is the owner, operator and sole employee of L&C Publishing. She moved to this area five years ago with the idea of publishing a local yellow pages “bringing local businesses and communities together.” Laurie felt that each of the communities in the area were self sustaining and could support their own local phone books.
After living in the area for a while, Laurie realized that Webster and Penfield had a lot of combined shopping areas and that the two communities blended well. She thought rather than two separate phone books, why not combine the two communities into one. She selected different art work created by local artists for each of the phone book covers to keep them unique to each community. The books are mailed to residents and businesses of both communities with additional copies available at selected locations such as the Webster Chamber offices.
Your Local Phone Book’s colorful pages include a calendar of events, local school information, Penfield and Webster maps, area park directories and even a fun contest with great prizes. She looks forward to the new books each year and the positive customer responses from the people in the community.
Aside from her busy work schedule, Laurie finds time to be involved with the Girl Scouts, The Greater Rochester Soap Box Derby, Webster PTSA, volunteers at her daughter’s school, is co-chair of the Webster Chamber’s Member Services Committee, is a member of the Penfield Business Association and the Penfield Chamber of Commerce.
Laurie lives in Webster with her daughter Caitlin (the “C” in L&C Publishing), her mother-Margaret, and their new puppy Elcie.
