About Webster

Webster is located in the northeast part of Monroe County bordered on the north by Lake Ontario and the west by lrondequoit Bay.

The Town and Village of Webster both operate municipal governments providing residents with comprehensive services. Lake Ontario moderates Webster's climate, keeping it about five degrees warmer in the winter and five degrees cooler in the summer. Webster, with its natural assets and exemplary recreational facilities, is rapidly becoming New York's newest Destination for Recreation. Through the joint efforts of the Town of Webster and the Webster Central School District, state of the art recreational facilities that can support local, regional and state athletic competition have been built.

With 22 miles of natural shoreline along Irondequoit Bay and Lake Ontario, opportunities for swimming, boating, fishing and other water sports abound. Webster is home to 10 parks (approximately 900 acres). Webster is also home to the Webster Arboretum, as well as Webster Park, a 550 acre county park located along the shoreline of Lake Ontario. Webster maintains an extensive network of bike and hiking trails.

Webster has a rich history and heritage: the township was named after American statesman, Daniel Webster. Favorable soil conditions and climate contributed to Webster's growth as a prosperous fruit growing center and continues to be home to several fruit farms. Agriculture has given way to high tech industry including Xerox and Trident Tools, two Baldridge Award Winning companies and more recently PayChex business operations. Webster's natural assets, outstanding schools, exemplary recreational facilities and low cost of living have allowed Webster to become Monroe County's fastest growing community.

Destination For Recreation

Webster, with its natural assets and exemplary recreational facilities, is rapidly becoming New York's newest Destination for Recreation. Webster's ten parks offer beach and waterfront property, including beach volleyball, paddleboats and Kayaks which can be rented. Webster Park, located along the shoreline of lake Ontario, includes rolling lakeshore meadows, woodlands and several waterfront areas. It is a popular overnight camping spot for youth and families alike. Lodges. shelters, tennis courts, picnic tables and grills, baseball and soccer fields, hiking, cross county ski trails and a fishing pier make it a desirable recreational spot year-round.

Other facilities & organizations include:

• Webster Community Ice Arena - An indoor skating rink which is home to the Skating Association for the Blind and Handicapped (SABAH), the Webster Cyclones Hockey League and both Webster and Penfield High Schools' Hockey Programs
• Mike F. Nozzolio Indoor Soccer Complex with a 64,000 sq ft facility that includes a state of the art turf.
• Webster Field House - A 21.000 sq ft multi-purpose field house connected to Webster Thomas High School
• Webster Acquatic Center - Eight-lane, 50 meter pool with 15.8 foot diving well; spectator seating for approximately 900 and deck-seating for 250.
• Webster Youth Sports Council - An umbrella volunteer organization for Webster Soccer Association, Webster Swim Association,
  Wildcats - Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading,
  Jr. Warriors / Jr. Titans- Vince Lombardi Football & Cheerleading,
  Webster Youth Hockey Association and Webster Youth Lacrosse
• National Athlete Development Center (NADC) which oversees development of such non-traditional Olympic Sports as Kayaking, Team Handball, Badmitten, Fencing, In-line Skating, BMX Biking and Skateboarding
• Basket Road Stadium - Configured to hold big league baseball contests, football, soccer, lacrosse and field hockey games.
