Parks & Recreation

With 22 miles of shoreline along Irondequoit Bay and Lake Ontario, recreational opportunities abound. Major town parks contain 275 acres of parkland and offer unlimited access for fishing, boating, biking, winter skiing, walking, jogging and outdoor sports. All play fields and picnic shelters, with the exception of those located at the North Ponds Park, may be reserved free of charge. NOTE: A carry in/out policy is adhered to throughout the entire town park system. All patrons are asked to collect garbage and dispose of it off site. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed in parks or parking areas.

Finn Park and Liberty Lodge
850 Maple Drive, Webster
This park consists of 50 acres of land located just north of the Route 104 overpass on Maple Drive. This Lodge is a 2,000 square foot log style lodge with kitchen facilities, fireplace, indoor restrooms, tables and chairs for 90 people. Outdoors there is a porch with picnic tables, playground, horseshoe pit and two outdoor grills. There is also a handicapped accessible trail that begins just behind Liberty Lodge and goes to Shipbuilder's Creek which is in the center of the park.

Kent Park and Kent Park Shelter
1700 Schlegel Road, Webster
Kent Park covers 84.5 acres and encompasses a 25-acre Arboretum. There are four softball fields, 2 soccer fields, a large handicapped accessible playground with swings, a large accessible shelter and bathrooms.

The Curry Building is currently being renovated and is not available for rental. Soon the Curry Building will accommodate up to 90 guests, have a larger kitchen, a loft, and the new design will provide a view of the arboretum grounds. The building, grounds and gazebo at the Arboretum are a lovely backdrop for weddings and family gatherings.

North Ponds Park, Lodge and Shelters
750 Holt Road, just off Route 104 East Expressway
There is an enclosed lodge with kitchen facilities, indoor bathrooms and tables and chairs to accommodate 40 people. A one mile paved biking and walking track on the outer perimeter of the park also offers 8 handicapped fitness stations and a sledding hill at the north end of the park. Parking is available just off Route 104 and to the north in the lot off Orchard Street. The ponds are also open for fishing. There are various shelters with grills to reserve for picnicking: K-shelter with electrical outlets (for up to 40 people), five mini-shelters for up to 8 people each), and a handicap accessible shelter (for 8-12 people).

Ridge Park and Park Shelter

This park has 8 softball fields, a group picnic shelter with grills, playground equipment, and restrooms.

Ridgecrest Park
985 Ebner Drive, Webster
This park has a baseball field, outdoor basketball court, bocce court, skate park, and a box lacrosse rink. These are available for public use. The skate park is open to all BMX bikers, roller bladers and skateboarders. there is also a playground and water spray park that feature water spray animals and a splash pad.

Empire Park
2130 Empire Blvd., Webster
The home to youth baseball complex with concessions and a restroom facilities.

Sandbar Park
279 Lake Road, Webster
This park is set on the shores of Lake Ontario and Irondequoit Bay. Enjoy a picnic any time of the day and in any season.

Basket Road Sports Complex
1610 Boulter Industrial Parkway, Webster
This complex is a 134,000 square foot multipurpose lit turf field with a baseball diamond and a large rectangle field suitable for football, soccer, lacrosse or field hockey. Home to the Webster Yankees, the field also has dugouts, a scoreboard, home plate and sideline bleachers.

D'Amico Park
South of Schlegel Road on Phillips Road, Webster
Two senior baseball diamonds are located at this park.

Bird Sanctuary
The Bird Sanctuary Trail is a 0.9 mile linear trail that connects the North Ponds Park walking path and Chiyoda Drive walking path.

Chiyoda Trail
This is a paved trail located on the Recreation Center property that winds through trees and loops back to the fitness facility.

Whiting Road Nature Preserve
The Preserve consists of approximately 240 acres of land. This property has a variety of ecosystems which make it a beautiful area to enjoy nature. The Friends of Webster Trails have built five trails in the preserve to provide public access. The trailhead parking lot is located on the west side of Whiting Road, 1.1 miles north of Klem Road and 0.6 miles south of Lake Road.

The Gosnell Big Woods Preserve
Three parcels make up 163 acres of this property. The first parcel is an open field, referred to as the "Big Field", bounded by private properties on Lake Road to the north, Baker Road on the west, Vosburg Road on the south and woods on the east. The second parcel is between the Big Field and Pellett Road, bounded by private properties on the north and south. The highlight of the Gosnell Big Woods Preserve is the awesome old growth "Big Woods" parcel - a rare jewel in this region.

Hojack Trail
This walking and biking trail from Vosburg Road to North Ponds Park is on the rail bed of the abandoned Hojack Line. This trail is maintained by the Friends of Webster Trails.

Vosburg Hollow Nature Trail
This trail is a branch trail of the Hojack Trail about 1/8 of a mile southeast of Vosburg Road. It leads north along a strand of red pines and descends to a boardwalk across a marshy area. It ends next to Shipbuilder's Creek.

Finn Park Nature Trail
Finn Park consists of 50 acres of land located just north of Route 104 between Maple Drive and Gravel Road. An easy 1.25 mile trail begins at Liberty Lodge and goes to Shipbuilder's Creek.

Webster Park, a Monroe County Park of 550 acres, includes rolling lakeshore meadows, woodlands and several waterfront areas along Lake Ontario. A popular overnight camping spot for youth and scout groups, jWebster Park has cabins and sites for use as family campgrounds. Lodges, shelters, tennis courts, icnic tables and grills, baseball and soccer fields, hiking, cross country ski trails, and a fishing pier round out the park's features.

Village of Webster Parks
The Village of Webster maintains 22 acres of parks and recreation:

Milton R. Case Memorial Park between South Avenue and Wood Street contains 14 acres of woods and natural trails.

Wilmorite Recreation Area off Iroquois Street with baseball fields and playground equipment.

Village Manor Recreation Area between Hawley Drive and State Road with ice skating rinks, basketball court, tennis courts, baseball fields, and playground equiment.

Harmony Park, 10 Foster Drive, off Phillips Road. The band plays concerts in the bandshell on most Thursday evenings throughout the summer.

Veterans Memorial Park on North Avenue holds memorial services during the year. The park's gazebo is the location for summertime events, movies in the park on Tuesdays at dusk, Friday evening concerts, and the Village Day's Festival. The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department provides leisure-time activities to all Webster residents from preschoolers through our senior population. Enrollment for youth programs is extended to Webster Central School District residents and non-residents for a small out-of-district fee. Programs are designed to stimulate, promote personal fitness, offer social interactions, and provide good clean fun. The program guide, the WEB, is mailed to Webster residents seasonally in January, May, and September. It can also be viewed on the website:www.websterparksandrecreation.org

In addition to offering broad-based leisure pursuits, Parks and Recreation is committed to enriching lives and providing support to families during these changing times. We hope to provide opportunities for residents to enhance all areas of their lives. Enrichment activities will be provided for families, parents, children and teens. Opportunities to develop techniques which will augment parenting, studying, coping and problem-solving skills, as well as advocating for children and adults are also offered.

The Department provides services for senior citizens 60 years and older and their spouse of any age, including a noon (nutritious) meal five days a week. Transportation is provided daily from home to the senior center. Recreation abounds in many forms-exercise classes, crafts, trips, mixed choir, lectures, and defensive driving classes.
