Barry's Column

It’s hard to believe that summer is winding down, schools are back in session, and (thankfully) the temperatures are getting milder.

It’s also almost the start of a new membership year for the Chamber of Commerce. The new membership year will begin October 1st and you may have already received a letter in the mail.

So first and foremost, thank you for your ongoing support of the Webster Chamber of Commerce. With seemingly never-ending new information for our businesses, the Chamber works hard to keep you informed with the latest information through website, with email blasts, as well as answering your questions via email and phone calls. As we enter into a new membership year, we will continue to support and promote all our members. We appreciate your support of the Chamber, allowing us to continue those efforts.

The Chamber’s authoritative website, our educational Power Hours, our gatherings to connect (virtual and in person), including our monthly breakfast meetings, our support of the Webster Economic Development Alliance, and your listing in the Chamber directory, to name a few, are ongoing benefits of your Chamber membership.

The Chamber Board of Directors did not increase membership dues this year, keeping in mind our collective continued economic “recovery”.

We think the investment in Chamber membership, a little more than $4 a week, gives you a significant return. Considering the advertising benefit of your directory listing improving your search results alone, your Chamber membership is a great investment.

Thank you again for your ongoing connection to the community through your Chamber membership – customers and fellow businesses know that Chamber members are connected and committed to our community!

See below for the Board of Director's candidates to be voted on at the September 24th breakfast meeting with terms beginning October 1st, 2021:

Steve Snyder (Arrow Kitchens & Bath) - Candidate for Director

Tina Salvatore (NOCO) - Candidate for Director

Leslie Pacer (Pearle Vision) - Candidate for Director

Lisa started Lala’s in 2018 because she thought it would be a fun challenge to open a retail gift shop and boutique with no formal retail background whatsoever!  She opened the doors on November 16 and has been working hard ever since.  Lisa chose the name Lala because it is her childhood nickname and she loves acronyms, so Love and Laugh Always. was born.

Lisa chose to create an environment where someone could have a great experience.  Not only offering great products at good prices, but having an atmosphere that smells wonderful, has pretty décor, fun and upbeat music, and friendly staff.

Lisa loves being right on Main Street in the Village, watching people walk by, stopping to peek at the windows.  Many people walk their dogs and stop to get a treat.  Customers love that Lisa supports local artisans.  She says, “There are so many friendly people out there, and they want to see Lala’s succeed, so they send their friends and family.  What greater compliment is there than that?”

Lisa expanded Lala’s during the 2020 pandemic, adding many more gift items and a second floor with beautiful clothing and accessories.  Lala’s has five employees, plus Lisa, and friends and vendors who come in to help, too!

In addition to being an active member of the Webster Chamber of Commerce, hosting two Eat, Drink, & Connect events, Lala’s has participated in the Village Wine Walk, Trick or Treat Trail, and Christmas Parade.  They also support many area businesses, schools, and clubs through donations.  Lisa loves to create fun gift packages for auctions and always includes a gift certificate so she can meet the winners.

Congratulations to Lisa and Lala’s as the Webster Chamber of Commerce September 2021 Business of the Month.
