Barry's Column

We are already past the April showers and the May flowers and into June for Flag Day, Father’s Day, Juneteenth, graduations, and the end of the school year!

Congratulations to Arrow Kitchens & Bath as the Chamber’s May Business of the Month and to Rich Marlin Edward Jones office as the June Business of the Month

We had a very nice New Member Lunch on the 15th to welcome our newest Chamber Members. This luncheon is an opportunity for a new member (or a new representative for an existing member) to learn a bit about the Chamber member opportunities, the Chamber committees, and our code of conduct. If you are new or a new representative and haven’t had a chance to attend this luncheon, please call the office and Barb will get you an invitation to the next quarterly lunch.

Things slow down a little in the summertime is always busy with family activities, recreation, time in the sun, and hopefully a little vacation time. We did have a great turnout and a great presentation at our combine Connect at Noon / Power Hour on June 3rd. Thanks to our Events & Honors Committee and our Education Committee for their great work and collaboration as well as thanks to Bob Freese from the Opportunity Group who presented an awesome informational program.

We do have a Chamber breakfast scheduled for the usual last Friday of the month, June 24th at the Recreation Center (see the website for details) – the Program will be on summer safety tips. Join us if you are able.

We are looking for hosts for Eat, Drink & Connect events – this is a great way to showcase your business. All you need to do is supply the venue and some food and drinks. If your facility is a little smaller, summertime is great to host an outside event!

The Chamber office will be undergoing some renovations starting in mid-July. We’re moving some walls around, getting some new flooring and a much-needed coat of paint. We are also adding some technology to allow for hybrid meetings and presentations. We will remain open during the work and are hoping that completion is by the end of August.

Happy Father’s Day to all our Chamber fathers – probably the most important “job” you have!

The Chamber will be closed on June 20th for the Juneteenth holiday, and we’ll be back on Tuesday morning the 21st.

Congratulations to our 650+ Webster graduates. Ceremonies will be at Schroeder Stadium on Wednesday the 24th at 7:30 PM and Friday June 24th at Thomas Stadium at 7:30 PM – note that traffic will be heavy before in those areas before and after the ceremonies.

Enjoy the sunshine and come see us at breakfast!
