Barry's Column

I think I might have one of the best jobs in the world. Besides getting to work with Barb every day (who is amazing, patient, efficient, and is a serious but fun co-worker), I get to work with and on behalf of our Chamber members on a daily basis.

I had a meeting this week with some of the area Chamber executives from around the five-county region (we try to meet quarterly) and we talk about things that work (and that don’t) and best practices and how to engage members and how things are going in general.  I know I am biased, but I also know that the Webster Chamber of Commerce is one of the best – we have engaged and active members attending events and working on committees and we have a board of directors that works hard to make sure we are on track with our Vision and Mission and that the Chamber is strong both financially and as a strong community voice for business. Thank you all for making that possible.

With summer waning and fall approaching, we are back in the mode of regular Power Hours, networking events, workshops, and of course our world famous monthly breakfast with an awesome program and “pass the mic”.

Please take a minute to click through the newsletter and find out what’s on the calendar – we know you can’t always get to everything but we don’t want you to miss out on something important to you either.

Our breakfast this month will feature a speaker from the Rochester Area Business Ethics Foundation who will present on the importance of ethical practices in your business and how the rewards from those practices can be ten-fold. She will also talk about the Rochester awards process for your business and how you apply for the annual awards.

We have a celebration each year to honor and acknowledge our long-time businesses and organizations in Webster. Running a business for decades and generations is a challenge and a testament to their leaders and their drive and dedication to their business and to our community. This week we sadly lost two long-time businessmen: Brendan Hanna from the Foley Agency and Jim Streppa from Streppa’s Bistro (retired) passed this week. On behalf of myself and Barb, the Chamber of Commerce and all of our Chamber members, we extend our condolences to their families and co-workers – the loss is felt throughout our Webster community.

This month’s Business of the Month is At Your Service Technologies. Chris Pennacchio (Chief Engineering Officer) and Kevin Levinson (Operations Manager) have been keeping the ship running smoothly ever since a few of them got together and discussed what would it look like to have an IT company that cared as much about their clients’ businesses as the clients do themselves... AYST was created in December 2015 to fill that void.

Their desire to help business owners and leaders that struggle to understand the complexities of how technology drives and protects business and business assets while adding to their productivity and bottom line.

They work with “business leaders” to provide outsourced IT services that will Enable your team to be 100% focused on your customers and not on your IT systems, while consistently exploiting new innovative technologies to better serve your customers and end users. They love the fact that they can resolve customer pain points, help customers to leverage new technologies to become more profitable while bringing new technology and better experiences to the end users. They have 8 employees and also provide specialty services such as transport for wheelchair-bound people. They have been active in the Webster Chamber, BOA Editions sponsor, contribute to Not for Profit agencies, Webster BID, and local service organizations.

On a humorous note, they recently sold a customer a New SFF PC with a CD/DVD drive, the customer called the next day very distraught… and said I have this DVD and I can’t get it to open, Kevin told her he was in the area and would stop by… upon arriving on-site, he found the issue was that she actually could not get the packaging the DVD came in open to get the DVD out.

Congratulations to At Your Service Technologies as Septembers Business of the Month!
